MRI Scan as a DiagnosticTool in Patients with a Cardiac Pacemaker - A Sensational Development

The Munich Clinic is, to the best of our knowledge, the first clinic worldwide (out-patient department) to undertake -in the routine- MRI scans in Patients with Cardiac Pacemaker.

MRI scan is a fairly new diagnostic tool. Even though, the magnetic resonance basics were known already since 1946, it took over 30 years to develop this physical procedure into an image giving one. 1973 the MRI scan was born. Industry has taken over the production of MRI scan devices since 1983. No diagnostic tool other than the MRI scan device has experienced such an overwhelming response in such a short period of time.

MRI scan has been first used as a special tool and last resource to diagnose areas like the human brain and the central nervous system. Meanwhile it has become the modality of choice in many cases to diagnose diseases, tumors etc. lt avoids the step by step diagnosis. Studies have shown that MRI scan is an excellent diagnostic and far more advanced tool than other conventional methods in early stage diagnosis.
